Meet the Team: Gráinne Corden

We’re continuing our ‘Meet the Team’ feature with The Contact Company’s Recruitment & Vetting Coordinator, Gráinne Corden…

I joined The Contact Company in August 2017, on a large retail campaign handling customer queries regarding store-bought items.

After the recommendation of my Operations Manager at the time, I was moved to Recruitment for a short period of time to help with references. Whilst here my interest in Recruitment spiked. I applied for the Recruitment Administrator role that was advertised at the time- and was successful!

During my time in Recruitment, I met a wonderful group of people and it allowed me to interact with other departments/campaigns in the business that I may not have had as much of a chance to whilst working as a Customer Service Advisor. Throughout the 7 months I was in Recruitment, I was given the opportunity to gain knowledge on a number of areas (specifically the vetting side); this included criminal record checks and credit checks.

In June 2018, the Recruitment Department temporarily closed. As a result, I applied for a Team Leader role and was successful, returning to the original retail campaign. Over the course of 4 months in this position, I managed a large team of Advisors who were new to the business, meeting with them each week to ensure they were meeting targets and to gather feedback on their time in the business.

After this, due to my knowledge of the vetting processes, I moved to ARC as an Audit, Risk & Compliance Co-ordinator. Here I spent 10 months managing the vetting for three of the campaigns within the business. This included creating process documents, SOP’s and campaign trackers. In this role, I was given the opportunity to work on ISO9001 and RCSA on a number of campaigns.

In June 2019, the Recruitment Department was revamped; and, with my existing skills, I was transferred back in August 2019 as Recruitment & Vetting Co-ordinator. For the last 5 months, I have assisted the Head of Recruitment in creating policies and SOP’s, as well as meeting with all internal and external stakeholders to build good working relationships and processes. In September 2019, we advertised a Recruitment and Vetting Administrator role internally and as a result we expanded the team, introducing Hayley Anderson to her new role, which she has thrived in since joining.

In January 2020 I was given the opportunity to start a Business Management course through The Contact Company, and I will complete this over the next 13 months. In addition to this, I have started my CIPD Level 5 in HR and hope to have this completed before the end of the year to allow me to expand my knowledge and progress within the business.
